Learning is an athletic rather than purely an intellectual pursuit, so ultimately, participants need to be able to change their actions as a result of participating in a learning program. However, what motivates one person to take action, can be different to what engages another, so to ensure rich and inspiring experiences for all, I design and deliver programs that draw on the bodies of knowledge from a variety of perspectives including self-directed learning, positive psychology and neuroscience, adult learning theory, instructional design, change, sports, business education and employee engagement. While one-off learning events can be inspiring and energising at the time, they rarely result in ongoing behavioural change, so where sustained change is the goal, I design support resources, job aids, reward programs and operational frameworks to reinforce the change.

Debriefing is an art, not a science, and it is often the difference
between a good experiential learning activity and a great one.
Irina Burgess is an enthusiastic, collaborative and pragmatic trainer, coach and learning designer. After working in sports development, operations management, retail and education in both Australia and England, Irina moved into designing and delivering soft skills and leadership training, as well as culture and engagement programs for companies and teams. Irina’s talent lies in her ability to translate content and outcomes into hands-on learning experiences, frameworks and practical programs, that allow individuals and teams to enjoy their work more, do their jobs better and accelerate business results.
Outside work, she is a mum, Spin class enthusiast, fan of live comedy, 70s dance moves, French films and living in Sydney.
